How To Actually Pick The Right Hoodie For Cold-Weather Days Outside

Most hoodies are built for looking good on a couch. Ours are built to go outside and stay outside.

A few things worth checking before you buy any cold-weather layer, ours or anyone else's:

Fabric weight. Too light and it's a layering piece, not a standalone. Too heavy and it doesn't move with you. Look for something in between if you're planning to wear it as your main layer.

Fit around the shoulders. If you're hunting, riding, or doing anything with your arms raised or extended, a hoodie that's tight through the shoulders will fight you all day.

Hood that actually stays up. Sounds small. Matters a lot the first time you're in wind and your hood keeps falling off.

Pocket placement. A kangaroo pocket that sits too low is useless with a pack on. Check where the openings actually are before you commit.

We built our outerwear line around these exact questions, because we got tired of "outdoor" gear that clearly never left a photo studio.
